What says summer like a garden party?! Carlie and Aaron’s wedding took that classic event concept and dialed it up a notch. Set among the sun-drenched rolling hills of Harper’s Rest Winery, their celebration channeled California’s iconic, laid-back energy—with just a touch of French luxury. Oh, and have we mentioned disco balls were involved? Planning this day was pure joy!

Summer Wedding at Harper’s Rest Winery

When Carlie and Aaron told us their wedding would be at Harper’s Rest Winery, we were so excited! With shady oak groves and picturesque vineyard views, the winery is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Russian River Valley. Their in-house event planner, Taylor, is a wonderful support to wedding planners and their clients. We really enjoyed our experience working with her!

The couple wanted to be present for each portion of their wedding day, including the cocktail hour. So, we created a timeline with that wish in mind. One Love Photography shot the wedding party and family portraits after the first look, so the ceremony flowed seamlessly into the reception.

The color palette was airy yet vibrant, like a summer garden: white, light blue, blush, and Pantone’s Peach Fuzz. The reception tables featured blue accents from the table numbers and linens, just as Carlie had envisioned. Meanwhile, the florals contrasted beautifully, featuring a range of peach and pink hues that mingled with pops of greenery.

A Groovy Surprise for the Bride

Carlie and Aaron had a vision for a relaxed yet elegant garden soirée. But once the dancing started, they wanted an epic party! Carlie loves disco balls, and we joined forces with her mom to surprise her with a dazzling dance floor design. We hung an “x” of bistro lights over the checkered platform and hung sixteen disco balls overhead. Then, the Vanda Floral Design team partially concealed the wires with greenery. The tiny mirrors on the disco balls reflected the Sonoma sunshine, which created a dreamy effect!
